I am really not your mother!! -Dispatcher

I once read somewhere... ok, it was in the public works newsletter from the prior city I worked at, that the director felt it was rude to place a sign, in the kitchen, reminding people that we are not there mothers, and to pick up after themselves. I remember thinking how I agreed with him. Everyone should have enough respect for their other co-workers that they pick up after themselves. On the rare occasions that one misses something, just be kind and do it for them.

Well, I have had it!!!! I have just literally stuck to the kitchen floor. I scrubbed off old whipped cream off a spatula and placed well over 15 dishes and pots in the dishwasher. I wiped the crumbs off the stove and counters and I draw the line at cleaning out the fridge. Trust me ... you don't want me to clean the fridge! I have literally Hung every toilet paper roll in that bathroom... I know because I stocked the paper last week and I'm the one last makes all the words face the same direction.

This may seem petty, but I seem to be doing this on a weekly, daily basis!! And it seems to be getting worse!

It's not like you have ever picked up after me, you have not! I clean up after myself even down to the containers I bring and reuse all on my own. So I'm not the issue.

What gets me, is the people that are the issue are the same ones that gripe and complain about people leaving it a mess when they have to clean. Supervisors get involved and its a whole sordid mess. So let me just say.... no supervisors have been contacted during the writing of this post..... but don't tempt me!!!!

I really miss the messy break room at my old agency. At least we didn't clean it and be forced to clean up after someone else's mess!! The mess was just there!!!

I used to work at Tampa Fire, where we shared the comm building w/ TPD..and also a break room. We had a huge sign that said Your mother doesn't work here so clean up after yourself (or something very similar) and it didn't do squat, lol. I have to say tho' that while I wouldn't touch the fridge there, or at the agency I have been with for the last three years, at least I never stuck to the floor. Too funny
